2012 Stephen Shane Fincher Memorial Golf Tournament

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 4th Annual Stephen Shane Fincher Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, September 14, 2012. Thanks to the hospitality of the Gates Four Golf and Country Club, the event is sure to be a wonderful opportunity for our friends to gather in support of our focus on building better leaders for tomorrow.

The Stephen Shane Fincher Memorial Foundation (“Foundation”), a S01(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, was founded in 2009 following the unexpected passing of Steve Fincher, a “larger than life” graduate of the North Carolina State University School of Engineering and custom builder in the Raleigh community.

In 2010, the Foundation fully funded an endowment with the North Carolina State University Engineering Foundation. That same year, two deserving students first received scholarships from the fund.

In 2011, the Foundation expanded its efforts and partnered with the General H. Hugh Shelton Leadership Center, founded by its namesake, the 14″‘ Chairman,]oint Chiefs of Staff. The Shelton Leadership Center offers leadership training and enrichment programs to pre-collegiate youth and university students as well as scholarships for higher learning in an effort to “inspire, educate, and develop values-based leaders committed to personal integrity, professional ethics, and selfless service.” (excerpted from the Center’s materials). The Foundation’s endowment enables young people to benefit from these experiences by offering financial assistance to those in need.

The Foundation is now excited to embark upon a new project in association with Cumberland County Schools to enrich the learning of students in this area and assist them in reaching their full

“Cumberland County Schools is proud to partner with the Stephen S. Fincher Memorial Foundation to provide opportunities for students through scholarships and a unique speaker series that will teach our students about opportunities available in Cumberland County.” – Frank Till, Superintendent Cumberland County Schools

Your continued support of our tnission will enable us to co-host a lecture series beginning in the fall of 2012 spotlighting local leaders in the fields of engineering, medicine, mathematics, and the sciences to provide students with an “up-close and personal” look at the endless possibilities for their futures.

Please join us on Friday, September 14 for a fun-filled day of golf on the beautiful Gates Four course, a Willard Byrd design. That evening, we will celebrate you, our supporters, at a gala beginning with a cocktail reception at 5:00 p.m. If you decide not to play golf, we would still love to see you at the gala. Please visit our website (www.ssfmemorial.com) for more information or feel free to call 910.977.6070 to purchase tickets.

On behalf of the Board, thank you. We look forward to seeing you in September!

With warm wishes,
